Sellers comments… We moved to Michael Road three years ago, and we've had a great time in such a friendly area, only choosing to move to be closer to family.
When we moved in, we redecorated the whole house, other than the kitchen. This included new carpets and bamboo flooring, plastering and painting the walls, installing new radiators, and a complete replacement of the bathroom. We particularly love the style of the the living room and the walk-in shower in the bathroom.
If we were staying here longer, we'd consider redecorating the kitchen to a more modern style, maybe adding large bifold doors to the garden. However, as the current kitchen is very functional, with loads of worktop and storage space, it's suited us well for the time we've been here. We have also considered upgrading the windows in the second and third bedrooms, but so far they haven't caused us any issues.
In terms of the area, as we have a dog, we've particularly enjoyed being so close to the Wanstead Flats - just a couple of minutes walk away - along with regular walks and runs to Wanstead Park and the Leyton Flats. We also like to take the tube to walk around Epping Forest and visit the many great pubs there. You can even walk the 24km from here to Epping on almost 100% green paths - which we did last summer!
Leytonstone station is really close, and it’s just 15min into central London. Stratford is a couple of stops away - great for shopping and also has great connections with the Jubilee and Elizabeth lines.
We frequently go to the local restaurants, cafes and pubs. Particular favourites are Bocca Bocca (excellent pizza), Homies on Donkeys and the Leytonstone Tavern. There are loads of cafes we like, including Wild Goose Bakery, Horizon and Back to Ours. There is also the Leytonstone Beer Mile, with small brewers under the arches, which are perfect for a relaxed and low-key drink, particularly outside in the summer. We still have friends in Leytonstone so are looking forward to being back to visit some of these again in the future!
